From April 10 to 13, Plantage Dok in Amsterdam became a space for ideas, materials, and collective creativity. At its core, In the Next Step, Everything Changes is about transformation — both physical and mental. It reflects on shifting boundaries, and how movement (of place, perspective, or self) shapes identity, memory, and connection.
The exhibition features artists, makers, and thinkers presented work that has never been shown before, marked a turning point in their practice, or was still in an experimental phase. Born from a personal desire to share work still in motion, this project offers space for development — and for the conversations that emerge along the way. The work will continue to evolve, shaped by new insights, experiences, and reflections.
In the Next Step, Everything Changes is initiated and curated by me and artist Eva Schippers In addition to my role as co-curator, I also contributed three works: two tufted pieces presented during the festival, and one photograph featured in the month-long exhibition.
The event kicked off on Thursday, April 10 with the opening of the exhibition In the Next Step, Everything Changes. Over the course of four days, visitors were also invited to join five inspiring workshops, held in both the Dokhuis Gallery and the Dokzaal — spaces where making, thinking, and experimenting came together.
